A Sensory Installation Where Natural Materials, Sound and Atmosphere Shape an Immersive Product Journey

For the launch of the Beosound A5, Bang & Olufsen wanted an installation that translated sound, materiality and form into a sensory experience. Ambiente transformed Galleri Christoffer Egelund into a calm, tactile universe shaped by natural materials and balanced use of light. The result is an intimate product launch where sound, space and design unfold as one cohesive narrative.

A Material Driven Universe for Sound and Design
Developed by the Danish Italian design duo GamFratesi, the installation reimagined the gallery as a quiet and tactile landscape where the Beosound A5 could be experienced as both an audio product and a sculptural design object. Untreated raffia was used to clad the walls, introducing warmth, texture and an organic rhythm to the space. The natural fibres softened the gallery’s architecture and created a subtle backdrop that allowed the product to stand out without visual noise. The material choice supported Bang & Olufsen’s long-standing focus on tactility, craftsmanship and sensory quality.

Exploring the Relationship Between Space, Sound and Form
Ambiente produced custom podiums, display tables and installation elements designed specifically for the launch. Each element was carefully positioned to guide visitors through the space and frame the Beosound A5 from different perspectives. The layout encouraged slow movement and close interaction, allowing sound and form to be experienced without distraction. Light was used sparingly and precisely to highlight surfaces, contours and material transitions, creating a calm atmosphere where the acoustic performance could unfold naturally within the room.

Crafted Execution and Technical Precision
Behind the quiet expression lay a high level of technical development and craftsmanship. Ambiente handled the full process from product maturation and production to on-site installation. Every joint, edge and surface transition was refined to ensure consistency with Bang & Olufsen’s design standards. The combination of raffia, timber, metal accents and natural finishes required careful handling and precise execution. The final installation appeared effortless, yet was the result of detailed planning and hands-on expertise.

An Intimate and Atmospheric Product Launch
The transformed gallery felt closer to an art installation than a traditional product presentation. Visitors moved through a warm, material-rich environment where sound, space and form were experienced as a whole. The installation created a strong emotional connection between audience and product, giving the Beosound A5 a quiet but confident stage. As a brand moment, the launch reflected Bang & Olufsen’s identity with clarity — refined, sensory and deeply rooted in material presence.
