A Simple and Sculptural Setting for Contemporary Danish Craft and Design
MINDCRAFT showcased Danish craftsmanship at Milan Design Week in a simple and sculptural exhibition setting. For more than 16 years, Ambiente has collaborated with the Danish Ministry of Culture and Copenhagen Design Agency on the realisation of the exhibition. The result is a clear and coherent framework for presenting contemporary Danish craft and design on an international stage.

A Long-Standing Platform for Danish Craft and Design
MINDCRAFT is an exhibition platform presenting contemporary Danish craft and design, interpreted by different curators over time. The exhibitions have often taken place in Chiostro Minore di San Simpliciano, a historic cloister in Milan’s Brera district during Milan Design Week. This edition was curated by Ditte Hammerstrøm and featured selected artists and designers. The exhibition was conceived as a simple and sculptural universe where aesthetics and structure worked together to support the individual works without overshadowing them.
A Simple Structure Supporting Individual Works
Each work was presented on its own podium, allowing it to stand clearly and independently. The podiums were connected by a distinctive yellow structure, creating a strong visual link across the exhibition while maintaining focus on each piece. This structural element helped guide visitors through the exhibition and ensured a coherent overall expression. The restrained setup allowed the works to speak for themselves while still forming part of a shared spatial identity.
From Curatorial Vision to Precise Realisation
Ambiente worked closely with the curator to transform the exhibition concept into a buildable and well-functioning solution. The process involved detailed planning, coordination and technical preparation, ensuring that both structure and details were carefully resolved. Ambiente was also responsible for the on-site implementation, which required precise handling of valuable and fragile items. Attention to both the overall layout and the finer details ensured that the exhibition was realised exactly as intended, presenting Danish craftsmanship with clarity, precision and respect for the curatorial vision.
"Over the 16 years we have had the pleasure of working with Ambiente, their service and understanding of our needs have always been impeccable. Michael Skjødt and his team understand how important creativity and high quality are to us, and they remain an invaluable partner in turning our visions into reality — always on time and to the agreed standard. On the rare occasions when things do not go exactly as planned, Ambiente can always be relied upon to find alternative solutions and ideas, ensuring that we continue to offer our customers and stakeholders the best possible experience.”
