A Warm, Sustainable Reception and Café Shaped by Natural Materials and Calm Scandinavian Design
Aksen needed a new reception and café that could bring the building’s many tenants together while reflecting a strong focus on sustainability. Ambiente created a warm and welcoming environment shaped by reused furniture, recycled materials and a balanced use of colour and surfaces. The result is an inviting arrival area that supports daily flow, interaction and a clear identity for the building.

A Sustainable Reception and Café for a Multi-Tenant Building
Following the acquisition of Aksen House of Business, the former Vestas headquarters, P+ set out to transform the 22,000 square metre building into an attractive multi-tenant office environment. As part of this process, Ambiente was tasked with designing and establishing a new reception area with an integrated café. The ambition was to create a welcoming arrival space that could bring tenants together while reflecting the building’s strong sustainability profile. The reception was designed to support high daily traffic and function as a shared point of orientation and interaction for both tenants and visitors.
Sustainability Expressed Through Reuse and Material Choices
Sustainability plays a central role in the reception and café design. Much of the existing furniture was reused and combined with new elements made from recycled and sustainable materials. Carpets produced from recycled plastic contribute to durability and comfort, while café tables feature tabletops made from industrial plastic and residual waste from coffee bean shells. These material choices clearly express the building’s environmental focus and demonstrate how existing resources can be given new life through thoughtful design.
Common Areas Designed for Everyday Use and Interaction
The reception area and adjoining common spaces are designed to encourage active use throughout the day. Different seating options, ranging from sofas to smaller table groups, support informal meetings, breaks and spontaneous conversations. Large trees are placed throughout the space, adding warmth and atmosphere while softening the scale of the interior. A simple and balanced material and colour palette ties the many square metres together, creating a cohesive environment that respects the existing building while adding new energy and life.
Clear Orientation and a Welcoming Arrival Experience
A light installation suspended above the reception desk makes use of the generous ceiling height and acts as a clear visual guide for visitors entering the building. The reception and café together form a functional framework for daily movement and shared use, strengthening the sense of cohesion within the multi-tenant house. By combining reused furniture, recycled materials and practical design solutions, Ambiente has created a reception and café that support sustainability, functionality and a welcoming atmosphere, offering Aksen House of Business a strong and inviting entrance for everyday use.
