A Homely Store Experience Defined by Clean Lines, Material Quality and Warm Atmosphere

A Modular Retail Concept for a Growing Bakery Chain
In close collaboration with KonditorBager, Ambiente designed, built and installed a retail concept based on modular interior elements. The ambition was to create a coherent framework that could be adapted and updated by individual bakeries as needed, while still maintaining a consistent overall expression across the chain. The concept was first implemented in the bakery in Vordingborg, which functions as KonditorBager’s flagship store and visual reference for the design. From here, selected elements have since been rolled out to other locations, allowing each bakery to adopt the concept at its own pace.

Materials That Balance Homeliness and Modern Clarity
The interior concept draws inspiration from the cosy atmosphere associated with homemade bread, while maintaining a clean and contemporary look. Wood is used as a primary material to introduce warmth and tactility, supporting the welcoming feel of the bakeries. To balance this, several wooden elements are painted in muted grey tones, adding a calm, modern expression. This combination ensures that the stores feel pleasant to enter without becoming nostalgic, while also supporting hygiene, lightness and a clear presentation of products.

Functional Design Supporting Flow and Everyday Use
Beyond atmosphere, the concept is designed to support everyday operations and customer flow. Counters, display units and shop fittings are positioned to guide customers naturally through the space and create a clear overview of the assortment. The layout supports efficient service while preserving a calm and inviting environment. The modular structure makes it easy to update or add new elements over time, ensuring long-term usability. Today, the concept demonstrates how thoughtful retail design can combine flexibility, brand identity and practical bakery operations in one cohesive solution.
